Risk Dashboard

Role:   Senior Interaction Designer
Project Overview

Our team was asked to review the current approach for the real-time risk limits dashboard, and provide improvement options. We conducted a review and interviewed customers to understand the various users. Our proposal simplified the overall experience by keeping the user on their selected dashboard, which provided a consolidated view of all exceptions using various levels of information.

The solution exceeded our initial requirements, and was embaced by providing a reusable platform-wide portal application.

Research Findings

Our approach was to learn about current users and roles, review the current solution, and compare with competitors.

The research indicated three key roles, and developed a metaphor of a firehouse to describe these roles. Our initial design would focus on the primary user or 'Firemen', who was tasked with 'putting out' risk violations.

Wireframe Prototype

These wireframes indicate a summary 'at-a-glance' view and an expanding in-page grid. The goal was to keep the user focused on the current view.

Prototype Template

Below is prototype template of our solution. This solution allows viewing muliple levels of risk at a glance. Each level would provide a consistent notification alert, with the specific focused rule displaying additional details. We created a prototype using - Microsoft Silverlight (XAML), which the development team was able to bind the data services to the front end.

The interface shouldn't interfere with the customer   •   If you can't briefly explain the solution, it's too complex   •   The design should include an element of fun!
