As a part of the inaugural IBM Design cohort, I led a team of the first graduates from IBM Design Thinking program. Our task was to reimagine a modern cloud-based communications suite, including e-mail, calendar, and instant messaging.
I participated in recruitment activities and formed a multi-disciplinary team including visual designers, interaction designers, researchers and front-end developers to work on parts of the suite. The e-mail application was our first area of focus.
Our team collaborated directly with product management and engineering team to maintain close alignment on product goals and technical feasibility.
We conducted multiple workshops and rapidly aligned on a unified vision including email, what's coming up, and instant messaging. Next we created a working prototype and began testing.
Our solution was so compelling, it was selected to be show-cased on the IBM’s annual Think conference main stage.
After our successful conference presentation, we continued to conduct research and collaboration leading to our first release.
Today IBM Verse is used by over 400K IBMers worldwide.
